    9:00 am Educational Programming

    10:30 am Meeting Adjourns

    Programming Overview:

In an economy with low unemployment numbers but no one applying for our positions, recruiting new staff is one of the biggest challenges for organizations. This session looks at the benefits and challenges in developing a training and professional development program to focus on the retention of existing employees. This can be a significant challenge when you are a small business, short-staffed, and on a budget – we will cover low-cost ideas to tackle this.

It also looks at the reasons why training, development, and engagement is crucial to your retention strategy and reducing turnover regardless of your company size. We also look at one key aspect that counts for 80% of all turnover in an organization, other recent relevant data on engagement, and a few strategies you can use to help.

Don’t let “small business” fool you, this data, these techniques, and the resources are just as applicable for medium to large sized businesses as they are for small businesses – PARTICULRLY the info on employee engagement! It’s a "don’t miss" for sure.

    Speaker Information: Dr. Dave Miles

Dr. Dave Miles is an experienced small business owner, leader, former career fire department Lieutenant/Paramedic, EMS Supervisor, and EMS Senior Management who understands having to make decisions in critical and life-threatening circumstances.

He understands the enjoyment of working in a highly motivated team environment as well as the frustration of working with cross-functional teams that lack effective communication.

With a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership concentrating in Human Resource Development, Dr. Dave has extensive training in improving an organization’s performance through developing their leaders, teams, and staff.

He understands both the research-based theory and evidence-based practice of how teams work and can select the best tools to meet each team’s needs.
